[talk: A Starbucks Birthday and Raw Soup]

Ok ... like he hasn't had ENOUGH birthday celebrations ... we had yet another. It was small and sweet, held at our little local Starbucks. After dinner, we walked up with our friends who are staying with us this week ... We brought candles and stuck them in a chocolate chip cookie and sang "Happy Birthday" as he blew them out. Now he's pretty sure he's four. *grin*

Tomorrow I shall tackle the feat of making his "CARS: Broken Road" Cake for his ACTUAL birthday party. This is Tias' request ... he wants Radiator Springs, with the road down the middle - half fixed, half broken. I'm actually really excited to jump into the project - too bad I can't start today!

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday - we got a VitaMix. This is a CRAZY, insane blender that actually heats up your food if you let it blend long enough. Our company was brave as I started throwing raw veges in: tomatoes, cauliflower, onion, garlic, red pepper, black beans ... And turned it on for 5 minutes - getting piping-hot, smooth soup. Was it good? WELLL - it was my first try. Tasted a bit "raw", if you know what I mean. Almost "grassy" ... BUT, later, I made vanilla icecream using skim milk, vanilla essence, Splenda, dried milk powder and a few cups of ice. It had the consistency of sorbet - wasn't creamy or "rich". But worth the calories and definitely a TREAT.

Love my machine. Now, what SHALL I try tonight?? Hmmmm ....

I had never heard of a "vita-mixer" until I saw that you had one...I'm interested to know what other things you come up with.

And that vanilla ice treat does sound dreamy.

Happy Birthday Mattias...can't wait to see how the cake turns out, I bet it'll be outstanding!

Have fun creating!

I looked and looked and looked at the Vita Mix and then settled on the only real competition, the BlendTec. Don't you just love the names they come up with? Seriously though, these are great machines and you will soon wonder what you ever did without it. Have fun!

Oooooh a Vita-mix...I'm so jealous. I'm still deciding between the Vita-mix and the Blendtec. We're adding some raw meals to our diet too.

Tania, I don't know if you are ok with me making a comment to Patti on here...But Patti if you are deciding I wanted to tell you a couple of reasons that pushed us over. For the BlendTec you can put all the parts in the dishwasher, you don't need the push stick, and it already knows how much power and time you need for what you making so you can turn it on and walk away. That's very helpful when I am catering. The Vita Mix is an awesome machine too and I would have been happy with either one I think. Happy shopping =)

ok *blush* ... gotta say that I'm not sure WHICH Lisa this is (I'm thinking PINK Lisa??) ... and for my two cents worth - we totally looked into the Blendtec as well - Lu LOVED that one. We found that hey were somewhat comparible - but we got our Vitamix at Costco with a wicked warranty and LOVE Costco's service ... so - for us, that was the selling point. :-)
